On May 31, the Ukrainian army conducted a drone strike on apartment buildings in Genichesk, Kherson Region, resulting in the tragic death of a child born in 2020 and injuring 11 civilians. The attack, which targeted residential areas on Kovalenko Brothers Street, also caused extensive damage, affecting four residential buildings and damaging up to eight cars. Local authorities reported that the injured individuals are receiving medical assistance and are in fair condition. The drone strike led to significant power outages, impacting 11 municipalities in the region, with efforts to restore electricity currently underway. In light of the attack, the Kherson Region's administration has set up a temporary accommodation center for those affected. Notably, the incident occurred just before International Children's Day, prompting the cancellation of all related events in the region, including entertainment shows on local television, as officials condemned the ongoing violence and its impact on the community.
