'Break The Mental Barrier': Frances Tiafoe Reveals Blueprint For Cracking Jannik Sinner Code At French Open

Jannik Sinner will enter the French Open 2026 as the hot favourite to win the title. Sinner is chasing a Career Grand Slam, and with Carlos Alcaraz out due to injury, he will be keen to get the monkey off his back at the French Open. Sinner has shown terrific form in the buildup to the Roland Garros, winning in Rome and Madrid, and on paper at least, no one looks good enough to beat Sinner in a best-of-five match. Sinner did lose to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open earlier this year, but the match was played on hard court, which is Djokovic's preferred surface, but on clay, where physical demands are much higher, even Djokovic is at a disadvantage. American star Frances Tiafoe, however, believes that Jannik Sinner is definitely beatable, adding that players need to beat the mental barrier and believe that they can beat Sinner. "He's an incredible player, that's clear, but I'm not going to sit here and put him on a pedestal even more," Tiafoe told reporters. "I think the rest of us players need to mentally convince ourselves that it's possible to beat him. Right now, we're all creating a kind of aura around him, and that also plays a part. Of course, he's on another level and doing monumental things, but the best players on the tour have the level to compete with him. The key is to break through that mental barrier." 'Not Going To Say It's Wide Open Because Alcaraz Is Out': Tiafoe Tiafoe also reflected on Carlos Alcaraz's absence from the Roland Garros and said that it's unfortunate that the defending champion is not part of the event. He, however, said that the absence of Alcaraz doesn't make things easier as there are plenty of other good players competing in the tournament. "Not gonna do that though, man. Shout out Carlos a really good friend of mine. The game needs him, it hurts that he's out, you know, here and Wimbledon, but, you know, I'm not gonna, you know, rag him on tour like that," Tiafoe said. "You've got a ton of great players, and especially a guy like me, I'm not losing to Carlos and Sinner every week. There's a bunch of guys that have been losing to, so, I'm not gonna sit here and say there's a huge opportunity. Is that a fact? Sure, but I'm not gonna sit here and say, 'Oh, Carlos is out, oh, man, it's wide open.' That's not the case. That's not the case. So, yeah, the game, everybody is really strong," he added.
