Tripura Police have arrested three Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian auto-rickshaw driver in the Kadamtala border area of North Tripura on charges of illegal infiltration. The arrests took place on the night of June 7, when the Border Security Force (BSF) detained the suspects near the Ranibari BSF BOP border area. During interrogation, the individuals confessed to being Bangladeshi citizens who had entered India without valid documentation and were attempting to return to Bangladesh illegally. One of the arrested, Sohel Mia, revealed that he had entered India approximately three months ago with the assistance of local individuals and had been residing in the Shantipur area. The police have recorded witness statements and seized items, including two mobile phones, from the accused. Police have requested the court to add Section 249 of the BNS 2023 to the case and seek a three-day remand for further questioning. Jayanta Karmakar, the Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Police Officer, confirmed the arrests and stated that the individuals would be interrogated in detail once in police custody.
