The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India has announced an extension of the deadline for students to submit requests for scanned copies of their evaluated answer books to May 25, 2023. This decision comes in response to widespread confusion following the implementation of the new On-Screen Marking method, which allows teachers to evaluate scanned answer scripts digitally rather than through physical copies. Many students have raised concerns regarding their scores, attributing potential discrepancies to this new evaluation system. The board's circular indicated that the portal for submitting requests will remain open for at least two days after the last evaluated answer book is made available. Additionally, CBSE has stated that it will communicate the start date for accepting re-evaluation requests soon. As this is the first year the On-Screen Marking method has been used, the board is experiencing an increase in requests from students eager to review their answer books and seek re-evaluation, reflecting the significant impact of the new digital assessment approach on students' academic outcomes.
