Riteish Deshmukh's Marathi film Raja Shivaji has achieved significant success, entering the ₹100 crore club. In this film, Bhagyashree plays the essential role of Rajmata Jijabai, the mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a character she holds dear due to her childhood connection with the stories of Shivaji. Despite being 10 years younger than Deshmukh, who portrays Shivaji, Bhagyashree has defended her casting, stating that Jijabai was a young mother and that she was honored to take on such a historic role. She recalled how stories of Shivaji were part of her upbringing, even before popular fairy tales. Bhagyashree's royal lineage as a member of the Patwardhan family adds depth to her portrayal. The film, co-written and directed by Deshmukh, also features notable actors such as Sanjay Dutt and Abhishek Bachchan, showcasing a strong ensemble cast.
