In preparation for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, approximately 48 MLAs from the Madhya Pradesh Congress party are heading to Bengaluru to mitigate the risk of cross-voting. The group has been delayed at Bhopal airport due to what the Congress alleges is a hold-up by Air Traffic Control, causing frustration among the MLAs. A Congress MLA reported that they have been waiting for over four hours for take-off permission. Amid these tensions, several Congress MLAs have claimed they have been approached by representatives of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with enticing offers to sway their votes. Umang Singhar, the Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, emphasized that the Congress MLAs remain united and confident in their collective strength, asserting that they have rejected any offers from the BJP. More MLAs are expected to join the initial group traveling to Bengaluru, where they will stay at a resort until the polling day on June 18, 2026. This strategic move aims to ensure that the Congress party maintains its integrity and support in the elections.
