The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has introduced a fully online system for applying for drinking water and sewerage connections, becoming the first civic body in Haryana to digitize this process completely. This initiative allows residents to apply using only their property ID and identity proof, eliminating the need for physical visits to municipal offices. MCG aims to streamline approvals, reduce physical interactions, and improve service transparency. To ease the transition, the corporation has extended the deadline for water bill payments to March 8 and waived late fees. The online application process includes auto-fetching property details and selecting an empanelled plumber for site inspections, which will occur within two working days of application submission. Currently, of the city's 5.5 lakh households, only 1.8 lakh have authorized sewer connections, indicating a significant gap in service coverage. Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra highlighted that this digital initiative will enhance administrative efficiency and support future smart city services, ultimately making the process more user-friendly and time-bound.
