This operation was prompted by a tip-off from the Delhi police, who suspected illicit transport of liquor following a case registered on May 18 at Mehrauli police station. The parcel, which arrived from Okhla, Delhi, was checked at Yeswanthpur railway station. RPF personnel, alongside officials from the state excise department, found 74 cartons containing 1,118 liquor bottles of various brands. The total quantity of liquor seized was approximately 1,042 litres. The logistics firm, AVG Logistics, responsible for the transport, has been issued a notice to appear before the excise department. A senior RPF officer stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the transport. Notably, liquor seizures from trains have significantly declined, with the RPF's Bengaluru division reporting only ₹2.3 lakh worth of liquor seized in 2025-26.
