Last week, the combined market capitalization of six of India's top ten firms increased by ₹74,111.57 crore. Reliance Industries emerged as the biggest gainer, adding ₹24,696.89 crore to its valuation, which now stands at ₹18,33,117.70 crore. The BSE benchmark index rose by 177.36 points, or 0.23%, amidst a volatile trading environment characterized by sharp intraday swings. This volatility was driven by factors such as persistent rupee weakness, mixed global cues, and ongoing uncertainties surrounding inflation and interest rates, according to Ajit Mishra, Senior Vice President of Research at Religare Broking Ltd. Other gainers included Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which increased by ₹19,338.68 crore to reach ₹8,38,401.33 crore, and ICICI Bank, which surged by ₹14,515.93 crore to ₹9,06,901.32 crore. Conversely, firms like HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, and Hindustan Unilever faced significant valuation losses, with Bharti Airtel's market cap dropping by ₹20,229.67 crore to ₹11,40,295.49 crore. Despite fluctuations, Reliance Industries retained its position as the most valued firm in India.
