On Sunday, an unfortunate incident at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Deep Singh Ji in Amritsar, Punjab, India, led to the deaths of two women and injuries to seven others. The collapse occurred when iron shuttering plates fell during a prayer service for the construction of a new langar hall. Preet Inder Singh, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (South), reported that a group of women was reciting prayers beneath the roof when the structure gave way due to strong winds, which caused the shuttering plates to slip from the framework. The victims, identified as Rajrani and Kulwinder Kaur, were rushed to the hospital by police and volunteers, with one injured person in critical condition and another being a minor. Harjinder Singh Dhami, the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), visited the injured and expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims. He confirmed that the SGPC is providing free medical treatment at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji Hospital. Legal action will be initiated following a thorough investigation into the incident.
