Grand Coffee Company is preparing to open its fourth location at 1100 Main St. in downtown Kansas City on June 16, following the closure of Prefix coffee shop. Owner Salvatore Silvio expressed enthusiasm about the new venue, citing the area's high foot traffic as a promising factor for success. The new coffee shop will mirror the menu of its other locations, featuring popular items such as salted caramel lattes, brown sugar shaken espressos, cherry limeade energy drinks, and refreshing açai bowls. The space will accommodate around 50 patrons, enhancing the coffee experience in a bustling area. Grand Coffee has seen rapid growth since its inception in 2023, with previous expansions to Shawnee and Platte City. The closure of Prefix, which had been in the Lightwell building, marked the end of its operations after financial struggles and a legal dispute with the International House of Prayer-Kansas City. Prefix cited an inability to sustain its business despite efforts to recover and grow.
