The iconic Pathankot–Jogindernagar toy train service in Himachal Pradesh has resumed operations after nearly four years of suspension due to severe flooding that damaged the Chakki Railway Bridge. This narrow-gauge railway, known for its scenic beauty, stretches 164 kilometers through the picturesque Kangra Valley, offering breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar mountain range, lush fields, and traditional villages. The journey takes about 10 hours and navigates nearly 1,000 bridges and 484 curves. The reopening of this heritage railway not only restores vital connectivity for local communities but also revives a cherished travel experience. The Ministry of Railways invested ₹70 crore in constructing a new bridge to facilitate the service's return. With a ticket price of just ₹40, the toy train offers a cost-effective alternative to bus travel, which can cost nearly ₹400 for the same route. Local commuters and railway enthusiasts have welcomed the resumption with excitement, eager to enjoy this iconic journey once again.
