The convict, born in 1985, was plotting to kill penitentiary officials during the upcoming Eid al-Adha festival. The FSB reported that the individual was motivated by religious hatred and aimed to undermine the foundations of traditional Islam. Following the thwarted attack, a criminal case has been opened against the convict, who has since been isolated in a different facility to prevent any further threats.
