Veteran reporter Selina Wang — known for her cool head and for regularly traveling with the president — was filming a report from the building’s “Pebble Beach” area for reporters on her iPhone before ducking for cover, her eyes bulging in panic. The chaos erupted near the fenced perimeter around 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest as Secret Service took down a gunman who opened fire outside the facility’s gate. “I was in the middle of taping on my iPhone for a social video from the White House North Lawn when we heard the shots,” said Wang on X. “It sounded like dozens of gunshots. We were told to sprint to the press briefing room where we are holding now.” This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
