However, local officials, including Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens and Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield, have not yet received formal invitations to the opening. The Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) has also refrained from confirming the opening date but stated that the project is progressing well. Construction of the bridge began in 2018, but its opening faced delays amid trade tensions, particularly following U.S. President Donald Trump's criticisms regarding trade fairness earlier this year. The bridge is anticipated to serve as a vital economic link between the two nations.
