The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that border issues between India and Bangladesh are being discussed during the ongoing 57th Director General-level Border Co-ordination Conference between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that both countries are utilizing this bilateral engagement to address concerns, including allegations of individuals being pushed across the border. The four-day conference, which began on June 11 in New Delhi, focuses on various topics such as fence breaching by Bangladeshi nationals, prevention of assaults on BSF personnel, and trans-border crime. The BSF delegation is led by Director General Praveen Kumar, while Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui heads the BGB delegation. The discussions also include issues related to border infrastructure, action against Indian Insurgent Groups in Bangladesh, and Confidence Building Measures. Historically, these DG-level meetings have been held biannually since 1993, fostering ongoing dialogue to resolve mutual border problems effectively.
