India and Russia are jointly developing a university ranking system that may eventually extend to other BRICS nations, as stated by Debjit Chakraborty, Director of the Chamber for Indo-Russo Technology Collaboration. This initiative, discussed during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, will initially be tested between India and Russia in partnership with a leading Moscow university. It is part of a larger effort by the Indo-Russia Innopraktika Technology Hub to create common technological products and institutional mechanisms for enhanced cooperation among BRICS countries. Chakraborty highlighted ongoing collaborations in advanced technology sectors, including artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and mentioned discussions on green energy projects. The ranking system aims to foster academic collaboration and knowledge exchange, ultimately contributing to a common innovation and education ecosystem across BRICS nations and emerging economies in Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. The broader vision encompasses the entire BRICS+ community, with projects like the BRICS+ Tech Forum aimed at strengthening technological self-reliance among member countries.
