The film, which released on May 15, faced significant challenges, including last-minute cancellations of shows due to unpaid dues to distributors. Despite receiving mixed reviews, 'Karuppu' has become the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026. At the success meet in Chennai, Suriya expressed his gratitude for the audience's enthusiastic response, noting that he had never signed a film so quickly, in just 30-45 minutes. He shared that a climax song was added late in production, filmed five months after the edit was locked, highlighting the dedication of the team despite financial pressures. The film features a talented cast, including Trisha Krishnan and RJ Balaji, and follows the story of Karuppuswamy, who disguises himself to challenge a corrupt legal system. Suriya also hinted at the possibility of expanding the 'Karuppu' universe, although no official sequel has been announced yet.
