On Sunday, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated multiple new sports facilities at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) National Centre of Excellence in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. The newly developed infrastructure includes a Para Athlete Hostel, a Centralised Dining Hall, a Strength and Conditioning Hall, a Multipurpose Training Hall, and a Meditation Park. These facilities aim to enhance athlete training, recovery, nutrition, sports science, and mental wellbeing, reflecting the government's commitment to building a high-performance sports ecosystem. Mandaviya highlighted India's recent successes in international sports, including 111 medals at the Asian Para Games and 29 medals at the Paralympics 2024, attributing these achievements to sustained investment in athletes and modern infrastructure. The SAI NCoE Gandhinagar is recognized as a leading hub for para-athlete development, supporting six para sports disciplines and providing elite training environments for various sports. The inauguration ceremony also emphasized a coordinated approach towards inclusive sports development, with significant financial backing from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
