A political controversy has erupted in Madhya Pradesh as the nomination of Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan for the Rajya Sabha elections has been declared invalid by the Returning Officer. This decision follows objections raised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, who cited allegations against Natarajan regarding her political connections with Kumbham Shivakumar Reddy, who faces serious charges including molestation. Congress leaders, including Sachin Pilot and Jairam Ramesh, have protested the rejection, claiming it undermines democratic processes. They argue that no formal case has been registered against Natarajan, only a court notice. Natarajan previously served as a Member of Parliament from Mandsaur from 2009 to 2014 and has held various roles within the Congress party, including AICC Secretary and Telangana in-charge. The Election Commission of India is scheduled to meet with Congress representatives to address the rejection of Natarajan's nomination papers.
