David Rush, a former CIA officer, faces serious allegations of misappropriating over $40 million worth of gold bars and cash by creating a fraudulent classified programme. He reportedly established a bogus special access programme to request large quantities of gold and foreign currency, claiming they were for official government expenses. Between November 2025 and March 2026, Rush allegedly diverted these assets for personal use. Following a search of his residence in Auburn, Virginia, on May 18, the FBI seized 303 gold bars, approximately $2 million in cash, and 35 luxury watches, including Rolexes. Rush has been charged with theft of public money, and the investigation began after the CIA uncovered potential legal violations. Prosecutors have described him as a 'master manipulator' who falsely claimed academic qualifications to secure government positions. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to examine his actions.
