In India, the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) distribution guidelines stipulate that typically, a household is permitted only one LPG connection. This includes the option for a Double Bottle Connection (DBC), which allows two cylinders under a single account, providing convenience for users. A household is defined as a group of family members living together and sharing a kitchen, including spouses, dependent children, and parents. Exceptions can be made for separate families with independent kitchens, subject to verification of KYC documents and field inspections by LPG distributors. If duplicate connections are discovered, households may be required to retain only one connection. The government has recently revised LPG regulations to ensure fair access to cooking fuel, emphasizing that only one connection is allowed per kitchen. Additionally, with the growing availability of Piped Natural Gas (PNG), consumers may choose to switch from LPG to PNG, allowing them to surrender their LPG connection. The amendments aim to facilitate easier relocation for consumers and ensure that all households have access to clean cooking fuel.
