In a significant move to empower women entrepreneurs, the Delhi government, under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has announced the provision of collateral-free loans up to ₹10 crore (approximately $1.2 million USD) for women's self-help groups and startups. This initiative was unveiled during the 'Mega Self Help Group (SHG) Mela-2026', which aims to promote indigenous products and connect women entrepreneurs with broader markets. The Delhi government will act as a guarantor for these loans, thereby facilitating easier access to financial resources. CM Gupta highlighted the government's commitment to the vision of 'Vocal for Local' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', encouraging the use of local products over foreign brands. During the event, 24 self-help groups showcased a variety of handmade products, including handicrafts and food items, emphasizing the quality of Indian goods. The Chief Minister urged the public to support local industries, noting that women are playing a crucial role in enhancing family incomes through small-scale industries. This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the indigenous economy and promote self-reliance in various sectors.
