Gujarat has reached a significant milestone with the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan), providing over ₹23,083 crore in direct financial aid to more than 69.25 lakh farmer families. This initiative, which delivers ₹2,000 every four months, aims to empower farmers by easing their financial burdens. The latest 22nd instalment has directly benefited over 50.54 lakh families, distributing more than ₹1,010 crore. Gujarat's Agriculture Minister, Jitubhai Vaghani, emphasized that the scheme acts as a financial safety net, enabling farmers to purchase essential inputs like seeds and fertilizers. Farmers have reported that this timely assistance helps them cultivate crops without financial worry. Additionally, the removal of the landholding limit allows all farmers to access equal support. The scheme employs Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to ensure transparency and eliminate middlemen, with mandatory digital record verification enhancing its integrity. Overall, the PM-Kisan scheme has significantly improved agricultural productivity and farmer livelihoods in Gujarat.
