Shields Health Solutions has announced a collaboration with Baptist Health, the largest health system in Northeast Florida, to establish a new specialty pharmacy located at the Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center in Jacksonville. This initiative aims to enhance patient access to specialty medications for chronic and complex conditions, starting with rheumatology and expanding to oncology and other specialties. The pharmacy will facilitate quicker access to prescribed therapies through both retail and direct-to-patient delivery services. Patients will receive personalized support, including assistance with insurance and financial navigation, aimed at reducing out-of-pocket costs and improving medication adherence. Michael Ham, CEO of Shields Health Solutions, emphasized the importance of making medication access easier for patients dealing with complex health issues. The partnership is expected to alleviate administrative pressures on healthcare providers, allowing them to concentrate on delivering high-quality care. According to Shields’ 2025 Outcomes Report, the specialty pharmacy model has demonstrated significant effectiveness, with a reported 92% of rheumatology patients experiencing no missed days of planned activities, surpassing the industry average.
