Stellantis has announced a recall of over 1 million Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles due to a defect that poses a fire risk. The recall affects an estimated 1,076,999 vehicles from model years 2021 to 2025. The issue stems from an electrical problem with the wiring for the electric hydraulic power steering pump, which could lead to overheating and potential ignition of nearby materials. Stellantis spokesperson Frank Matyok emphasized the importance of safety, advising owners to park affected vehicles outdoors and away from structures until a solution is implemented. Although a repair has not yet been finalized, the automaker expects to have a remedy available by July. Owners will be notified by mail when they can schedule repairs at local dealerships. The recall also extends to 106,258 vehicles in Canada, 23,704 in Mexico, and 124,297 in international markets. This recall is part of a broader trend of safety concerns surrounding Jeep models, including a previous recall of 419,035 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs for a separate software defect that could delay airbag deployment during crashes.
