The Nigerian labour community is mourning the death of Domingo Michael Adeleke, a prominent trade union leader, who passed away during the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland. Adeleke, who was the Chairman of the Lagos State Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), died on June 9 after a brief illness while representing Nigeria at the global labour event. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) confirmed his death, praising Adeleke as a committed advocate for workers' rights and welfare. In a heartfelt tribute, the NLC noted that his career was dedicated to advancing decent work and social justice. His passing has been described as a significant loss to the labour movement, with tributes pouring in from across the community. The NLC's leadership has visited the hospital where his body is being held and is making arrangements to return his remains to Nigeria. Additionally, the NLC and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have expressed their intent to strike against the government over rising insecurity in the country.
