Zepto is rapidly closing the gap with market leader Blinkit in the quick commerce sector, as revealed in its updated draft red herring prospectus. In the fourth quarter of FY26, Zepto reported revenues of ₹7,497.6 crore and processed 210 million orders, nearly matching Blinkit's 273.9 million orders and ₹13,232 crore in revenue. Despite this growth, Zepto faces challenges with profitability, reporting an adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) loss of ₹1,247.5 crore, the highest among its competitors, primarily due to extensive investments in customer acquisition and infrastructure. Zepto operates 1,139 dark stores, closely rivaling Swiggy Instamart's 1,143, but significantly fewer than Blinkit's 2,243. Notably, Zepto's order volumes reached 77% of Blinkit's, indicating effective throughput per store and strong demand in urban areas. Additionally, Zepto's Net Receivables Value (NRV) of ₹8,133.8 crore surpassed Instamart's but fell short of Blinkit's ₹14,386 crore Net Order Value (NOV). This competitive landscape highlights the intense rivalry in the quick commerce market as companies strive for market share.
