The Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) is set to expand to four teams for its 2026 season, welcoming Jamaica Empress alongside the existing franchises: Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Trinbago Knight Riders. This marks the first expansion since the league's inception in 2022. The tournament will be held in Barbados from September 5 to 17, featuring a new format where each team plays the others once. The top team will advance directly to the final, while the second and third-placed teams will compete in a playoff on September 16. Defending champions Barbados Royals are seeking their fourth consecutive title, having won in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Looking ahead, WCPL organizers plan to invite teams from outside the Caribbean starting in 2027, aiming to transform the league into a global women's franchise tournament. The season kicks off with Barbados Royals facing Trinbago Knight Riders on September 5, followed by Jamaica Empress's debut against Guyana Amazon Warriors on September 6.
