Duckworth, currently ranked 82nd, won the first set 6-3 in just 43 minutes. He had established a 4-1 lead in the second set when Diallo, ranked 49th, decided to retire from the match. Diallo had been dealing with lower back problems leading up to the tournament and had also suffered a cut on his finger just days before their match. In the first set, both players held serve initially, but Duckworth broke Diallo's serve to take a 4-2 lead. He maintained his composure, ultimately holding serve to win the first set. This victory marks Duckworth's first advancement to the second round of the French Open since 2021 and only the second time in his career. The Australian will next face either Rafael Jodar, the 27th-seeded Spanish player, or Aleksandar Kovacevic from the United States, ranked 67th. A total of thirteen Australians, including seven men and six women, are competing in singles at this year's tournament.
