Apple's latest operating system, macOS 27 Golden Gate, addresses the design critiques of its predecessor, macOS 26 Tahoe, by implementing several user-friendly enhancements. The most notable feature is the new Liquid Glass slider, which allows users to customize the transparency of the interface from ultraclear to fully tinted. Additionally, the design introduces consistent window shapes across all applications, eliminating the need for app updates to match the new corner radius. The menu bar icons have been reduced in number, leading to a cleaner interface, while the edge-to-edge sidebars provide a more integrated look without sacrificing functionality. Other improvements include enhanced legibility across toolbar controls and a clearer distinction for active windows. Currently, macOS 27 Golden Gate is available in developer beta, with a public beta expected in July before the official release later this fall.
