In response to rising Ebola cases in Africa, the Andhra Pradesh government has announced enhanced preparedness measures, including passenger screening at international airports and the establishment of isolation wards. The Andhra Pradesh government has ramped up its Ebola preparedness in light of increasing cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan. Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Minister Satya Kumar Yadav announced plans for passenger screening at international airports in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Tirupati. Those exhibiting symptoms will be quarantined, and close contacts will be tested. Additionally, 15-bed isolation wards are being established in Government General Hospitals located in cities with international airports. The state is also implementing surveillance measures for travelers arriving by road and sea. Health officials have been instructed to remain vigilant, and discussions have been initiated with district authorities and the Visakhapatnam seaport. The government is following guidelines from the Union government and the World Health Organization (WHO) to ensure effective disease management. Although India has not reported any Ebola cases, the state health department emphasizes the importance of early detection and isolation to control the virus's spread. Symptoms of Ebola can manifest between two and 21 days after exposure and include fever, weakness, and severe gastrointestinal distress.
