Target has issued a recall for certain batches of its Up & Up Fragrance Free and Fresh Cucumber Scented Baby Wipes due to potential contamination with harmful bacteria. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confirmed the presence of Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioli in some product samples, which could lead to serious infections, particularly in vulnerable populations such as infants and those with weakened immune systems. The wipes, manufactured between November 2025 and May 2026, were sold at Target stores across the country and online. Health officials warn that these bacteria can cause severe conditions like sepsis and pneumonia, while healthy individuals may experience localized infections or skin irritation. Target has received complaints regarding skin and eye irritation linked to these products, which are currently being investigated. Consumers are urged to check the manufacturing and expiration dates on their packages and stop using the affected wipes immediately.
